Judge revives Jay-Z extortion claim against Tony Buzbee amid accuser's statements
The ruling is not final. The judge will hear more argument on April 7 in Santa Monica.
A judge on Wednesday said new information about the woman who accused Jay-Z of rape should save his extortion claim against lawyer Tony Buzbee.
Declarations from investigators who interviewed the woman at her home in Alabama indicate she “at least inferentially” didn’t authorize Buzbee to send a demand letter, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Mark Epstein said in a 50-page ruling.
Epstein’s order reverses his previous ruling that the extortion claim should be dismissed, but it’s not final: He continued the hearing to April 7 in his Santa Monica courtroom.
