FFS. You've got to be kidding me. There is no organization called Antifa. *facepalm* My father and grandfather were "Antifa" since they were in the Belgian resistance against the Nazis. Where did he get that the reporter was "supporting Antifa"? Sadly, there's nothing the 9th Circuit can do about this...

Carney and the lawyer basically inserted Antifa into this. Laube pled months before Carney dismissed the charges. As the article states, lawyer filed a sentencing memo (linked) that appealed to Carney’s antifa comments. But Laube has never mentioned Antifa in his letter or allocution. In the end Carney’s sentence is not at all unreasonable. It’s his insistence on writing a memo about Antifa (or a memo at all, don’t see those a lot and I track many sentencings) that’s weird. But no prison and one year probation when USA wanted six months is hardly unusual. He also gave Laube probation when he asked for none.

I understand. But this guy had a long rap sheet and was involved in white supremacists. I realize there was no hate crime, but still...

He got it from McNicholas, who got it from Laube, who got it from trying to save his ass
